  • Doulas are trained, nonmedical professionals who provide you with non-judgemental emotional, informational, physical, and mental support through pregnancy, birth, and the immediate post-partum.

  • Doulas provide continuous support during labor.

  • Doulas don’t provide medical care but can help you gather information and can connect you with medical professionals.

  • Doulas provide support for your partner. They, too, are becoming parents and birth is an emotional process for them as well.

  • Doulas help you with stress and pain management.

  • Doulas support your decisions without stealing your voice.

  • Doulas are there for you.
Hospital staff and community midwives are often very busy and have to share their attention with several other expectant parents. Moreover, staff might change during your labor. A doula is a trusted, comforting, consistent presence that stays by your side for the entire birth.

  • Doulas provide post-partum support.
When the Kraamzorg is gone, life can still be challenging with a new baby and with a still disrupted family rhythm. A doula can help provide calm, stability and support during this delicate time (think of, for example, laundry, groceries, light cleaning, cooking..).
