There is a long road between those two lines on a test strip and finding your feet as a mother.

So much happens along the way. You prepare for birth, imagine what life with your baby might look like, and make decisions you have never had to make before. Things change. Plans change.
And in the meantime, you change too.

And through all of this, many people will care for you. Midwives, doctors, sonographers, maternity professionals, each stepping in for a particular moment, each holding one small part of the story.

Juno Births started from a wish to bring more clarity and support to international families navigating pregnancy and birth in the Netherlands. Over time, and through the families I have cared for, it has grown into something more: a wish to offer time.

Time to build trust. Time to know each other beyond an intake form or a list of birth preferences. Time for me to understand what matters to you, and for you to understand the kind of person you are inviting into your birth space and, later, into your home.

They belong to the same journey. And when I have had the privilege of walking some of that road with a family, the care I can offer after birth is different. I know where you have come from. I know what you had hoped for, what changed, what was difficult and what surprised you. There is context. There is trust. We already know each other.

This is the kind of care I want to offer through Juno Births: not just support for a birth, a course or a kraamweek, but the possibility of walking together for a little longer.

From pregnancy, through birth, and into the beginning of motherhood.

Someone who remembers the conversations you had during pregnancy. Who knows what you were hoping for, what mattered to you, and perhaps even stood beside you while your baby was being born.

This is what I call the Juno Way:

Hello! I am Valentina

Doula, kraamverzorgende, childbirth educator —
and the person behind Juno Births.

I am Italian, a mother of three who has called the Netherlands home for over 15 years, and I know something about building a family away from the place and culture you grew up in. Perhaps that is why working with international families has always felt so natural to me.

Before birth work, my world was education. I have always been interested in how people learn, grow, adapt and find their own way — and becoming a doula brought that part of me into a completely different space.

My care is warm, practical and individual. I like evidence and good information, but I also believe there is a lot that cannot be reduced to a protocol or a publication.

I had my first baby in January 2023 and Valentina was here to support me through the 3rd trimester, during all the labor and during the postpartum. She is a very thoughtful, pro active, professional and enthusiastic person. She took the time to understand my birth plan but also took in consideration the needs of my partner. I was looking for a pre birth course to follow during my pregnancy, something which would have helped in feeling confidence and getting an overall understanding of the whole delivery process.
