The Juno Way

From pregnancy and birth preparation to birth support and kraamzorg, the Juno Way is an invitation to share more than one part of the journey.

Care that continues rather than beginning again at every stage.

A continuous journey, built around you.

At its fullest, our work together begins during pregnancy and continues through birth and into the kraamweek.

There is time to get to know one another, to prepare for what lies ahead and to work on what is important to you. That might mean preparing for birth, thinking ahead to postpartum and life with your baby, working through questions or worries as they arise, or simply having a familiar person to come back to as things change.

This is the Juno Way in its fullest form. If you don't need support at every stage, there are simpler ways for us to begin before the kraamweek too.

Care that doesn't start from zero

Pregnancy, birth and postpartum are deeply connected, but the care around them is often divided into separate pieces. You can prepare for birth with one person, meet several during labour, and then welcome someone completely new into your home once your baby is there.

As my own work began to stretch across pregnancy, birth and postpartum care (kraamzorg), I found myself in a different position. I wasn't only meeting families at one particular point in their journey anymore. I had been there during pregnancy, sometimes through birth, and then again in the days that followed. And I began to see the value of everything we carried with us from one stage into the next.

There is a shared context that comes from having travelled some of that road together. I don't arrive after birth knowing only what has been written in your file. I know something of the months that came before it, the conversations we have had and, if I supported your birth, the experience that has just brought you to this moment. And just as importantly, you already know me: not just my qualifications or what I offer, but what it actually feels like to have me around.

When I walk through your door after your baby is born, we are not beginning a new piece of care from scratch. We are continuing something that has already begun.

Ways to work together

The Juno Way is the fullest version of this care, but you may not need me at every stage. There are different ways for us to begin working together before your baby arrives, while still carrying that familiarity into the kraamweek.

The Juno Way

If what you want most is continuity from birth into the days that follow, I can support you through labour and birth as your doula and continue caring for you and your baby during the kraamweek.

We still meet during pregnancy and take the time we need to prepare for working together, I can help with the birth plan and answer all your questions so that when your birth begins, I am already a familiar person in the room.

We begin during pregnancy and have time to work on what is important to you as the months unfold. We can prepare for birth, think ahead to postpartum and life with your baby, and make space for the questions, decisions or worries that come up along the way.

I support you through birth as your doula and return afterwards as your kraamverzorgende, carrying everything we have already learned and experienced together into those first days at home.

We spend time together during pregnancy, focusing on what is most useful to you. That might be preparing for birth, thinking ahead to postpartum and life with your baby, working through particular questions or concerns, or a combination of these.

When I return for your kraamweek, we already know one another and I have a much better understanding of what matters to you.

Kraamzorg

Holistic Kraamzorg at home.

Looking for something more specific?

You don't need to follow the Juno Way to work with me.
My individual services can also be booked separately, or added to your care along the way.

Birth Preparation

Practical, evidence-informed preparation for birth, from individual sessions to complete courses.

Birth Doula

Continuous support during labour and birth, with someone firmly in your corner.

When should I book the Juno Way?

The earlier, the better. I only work with a limited number of families per month, so getting in touch early gives us more time to work together during pregnancy and makes it more likely that I can reserve space for you around your birth and kraamweek.

When planning my availability, I give priority to families who book one of the Juno Way options, as this allows me to offer the continuity of care that sits at the heart of my work. Standalone kraamzorg may still be available, depending on my caseload around your due date.

Where do you offer the Juno Way, doula support and kraamzorg?

I am based in Hilversum and offer the Juno Way, doula support, birth preparation and kraamzorg throughout 't Gooi and a wider area across North Holland, Utrecht and Flevoland.

My service area includes:

  • Hilversum, Bussum, Naarden, Huizen, Muiden

  • Laren, Blaricum and Eemnes

  • Loosdrecht, Kortenhoef, Nederhorst den Berg

  • Baarn, Soest and Amersfoort

  • Almere, Lelystad

  • Weesp, Diemen and the east Amsterdam region

  • De Bilt, Bilthoven, Zeist and the Utrecht region

I don't currently offer home-based services in central Amsterdam or central Utrecht. If you live somewhere around the edges of this area and aren't sure whether I can come to you, please get in touch, distance alone doesn't always tell the whole story.

Is the Juno Way covered by Health Insurance?

The kraamzorg part of the Juno Way is covered through Dutch basic health insurance, although the statutory contribution and the conditions of your own insurance policy may apply.

Pregnancy preparation, coaching and birth doula support are private services and are not normally covered by basic insurance. Some supplementary insurance policies offer reimbursement for birth preparation or doula care, so it is always worth checking with your insurer. I can provide you with an invoice to submit to them.

Can I add more prenatal sessions or birth preparation later?

Yes. The prenatal time included in your care is a starting point, not a limit. You can add individual pregnancy support or birth preparation sessions if you decide you would like more time together along the way; these are booked separately.

Complete courses can also be added. HypnoBirthing, for example, is a 12.5-hour programme with its own course materials and is always booked separately rather than included within the prenatal hours of your package.

Can I choose what we focus on during the prenatal sessions?

Yes. Your prenatal sessions don't follow a fixed curriculum. We use the time according to what is most useful to you.

That might mean birth preparation, postpartum planning, preparing for feeding and life with your baby, working on your birth preferences or birth plan, or talking through questions and decisions that have come up during pregnancy. We can also include physical and emotional preparation, such as relaxation, massage, reflexology, Reiki or EFT.
