Holistic Kraamzorg
Welcoming a baby into the world is a life-changing experience, but it doesn’t end with the birth. The early days and weeks after birth, known as the kraamweek in the Netherlands, are a crucial time for recovery, bonding, and establishing rhythms as a new family.
In the Netherlands, kraamzorg is a unique part of postpartum care: a maternity nurse comes to your home during the first week after birth to help with recovery, baby care, and household tasks. It’s part of the Dutch healthcare system and is covered by insurance.
Holistic Kraamzorg care includes everything you'd expect from mainstream Dutch kraamzorg: monitoring your healing, checking your baby’s wellbeing, supporting feeding, and guiding you through the basics of newborn care. But it also brings something more: space to pause, to feel, to be held.
As a holistic kraamzorg provider, I care for your body with warm, nourishing meals and snacks rooted in Ayurvedic principles, sometimes with a touch of Mediterranean flavours. When possible, I offer bodywork like gentle massage or belly binding, helping you reconnect with your body after birth.
I care for your heart too, listening without judgment, making space for all the emotions that may come up.
My role is to guide you through establishing a healthy breastfeeding journey, decoding your baby’s cues, setting up a restful sleep environment, and delivering essential newborn care, all while embracing and supporting the entire family’s transformation with compassion and love.
Did you know you can choose your own independent kraamzorg provider?
If you're looking for more personalized, holistic care, you can opt for an independent kraamverzorgende like me.
I can offer more time, emotional support, and continuity than large agencies often can. And yes, my services are still reimbursed through your basic health insurance (sometimes you have to pay the "own participation contribution")
Choosing independent kraamzorg means choosing a more gentle, connected start to your postpartum journey.
As I am still a student, I can take on clients with EDD from November-December 2025. I am supervised and supported by my wonderful mentor, Siri Amrit Khalsa from www.empoweringbirth.nl
